Shooting the Bullet

Thursday, October 27, 2005 at 07:19PM

If you’ve gone through the pain of developing a product, and shifting market not once but more than twice, you know the pain of pulling the plug. This pain is even more pronounced in those who experience this with two consecutive ventures. Investing your hear and sole into building something you love, then taking a gun and pulling the trigger is probably one of the most difficult experiences an entrepreneur goes through. It’s an emotionally draining and stressful experience that often goes unmentioned.

But, you’re not alone. Others who are successful entrepreneurs today went through this experience as well. Here’s a clip from an interview with Bill Trenchard, CEO of LiveOps, who sold his first business – Jump – to Microsoft before graduating from college. He discusses the passion of starting something he really believed in, attempting to find the right market and then finally pulling the plug. (NOTE: Click here to open the clip in a new window.)
