Rule #1: Surround yourself with great people!

Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 07:47AM

Startups are built by people who dedicate their time, lives and ideas to turning a concept into a successful venture. It's the contribution of great ideas from, and timely efforts of founders, advisors and friends that enable such a transition to take place. While a lot of successful people tend to emphasis the "I," startups are generally about "we" and this "we" indirectly extends beyond the immediate team. It touches on everyone who has devoted their time and connections to helping your team achieve its goals.  Meebo, a startup based in the Bay Area, does a great job illustrating the "we-ness" involved in creating a business and the importance of turning to others in areas you are weak.
